Is CBD safe for My Pets?

Most older dogs experience pain and anxiety. Especially those with arthritis and other age-related conditions. There are common medications for this, but they eventually lose their effectiveness, affecting the dog’s quality of life. Some pet owners are starting to swear by the effects of CBD oil. CBD oil can help reduce anxiety in many pets, including separation anxiety and noise phobias, especially during storms or fireworks. It can also act as an anti-inflammatory agent, making it a great calming ingredient for dogs with arthritis. In some cases, CBD can also be used as a natural ingredient instead of phenobarbital.  However, results may vary, and it’s important to consult your veterinarian before attempting to treat your dog’s condition with CBD.

The thought of your pet eating hemp can seem daunting if you don’t know the difference between CBD oil and other cannabis products. Pet owners have to overcome a big mistake when it comes to CBD products.  Many people think that manufacturers make petroleum products the same way as CBD. Agriculture and work processes are different due to lack of regulation. CBD oil for dogs is made from hemp. The end product contains little to no trace of THC, giving your dog all kinds of benefits with minimal risk. With that in mind, CBD oil is safe for most dogs in the right dosage and with the right products.

Before administering CBD to your dog, consult your veterinarian. Your veterinarian can advise you on your particular dog and provide you with more information. Many vets are limited by law when it comes to CBD, but they can help point you in the right direction to treat your furry family member safely.  Keep an eye on our Blog or sign up for our newsletter to learn more.
